The Ethics & Algorithms Toolkit is a toolkit that focuses on government data. It was developed through the collaboration of GovEx (John Hopkins University), Harvard DataSmart (Harvard University), the City and County of San Francisco and the Data Community DC. The tools curated are mostly intended for those building or acquiring algorithms in the government sector, without excluding anybody else who could find it useful. The toolkit aims to elicit conversation, encourage risk evaluation as a team and catalyze proactive mitigation strategy planning. The toolkit focuses on risk assessment through data analysis and includes two parts: Assess Algorithm Risk and Manage Algorithm Risk. Therefore, knowledge on data science concepts and/or experience with algorithms would be necessary for its use.
