is a result of the collaboration between the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, the FabLab Network, the Peers Educators Network, Waag Society, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia and the University of Dundee in the context of the Making Sense project. The scope of this toolkit is to explore how open source software and hardware, digital maker practices and open design can be utilized by local communities to fabricate their own sensing tools, and address pressing environmental issues (air, water, soil, sound pollution, etc.). This is pursued through the concept of Empowerment, Co-Creation, Changemaking, and Openness. Each concept is thoroughly documented and enriched with material from the activities in pilot cities.
